On a recent afternoon, Marie Osmond extended an offer that speaks volumes about her current priorities—picking up her granddaughter from school. “Seeing her run over to me was better than playing Madison Square Garden,” Marie shares with Closer. “I know it sounds a little silly, but the world often tells women that if something isn’t tied to their job or their portfolio, it doesn’t matter. But let me tell you, right now, the most important thing to me is those kids.”
At 64, Marie Osmond has spent the past few years making up for lost time. After decades of putting her career front and center, she’s diving into a bucket list of passions closest to her heart. Whether it’s nurturing family bonds, exploring new creative pursuits, or embarking on thrilling adventures, Marie is fully embracing this chapter of her life. “After performing every single night for 11 years in Las Vegas, I decided it was time to start doing some things I’ve always dreamed of,” she explains.
Building stronger connections with her children and grandchildren has become one of her top priorities. “I realized that in 50 years, no one’s going to remember me unless I spend quality time with the people who matter most—my family,” she reflects. “And they will, if I make an effort now.”

Marie’s youngest child is now 21, giving her and her husband, Steve Craig—whom she remarried in 2011 after 25 years apart—more freedom to focus on each other. “Steve has been incredible about supporting me and my bucket list,” Marie gushes. “I told him I wanted to go to Brazil, and his response? ‘OK!’” She continues, “I’ve always been drawn to adventure, but when you’re tied to a show, you can’t afford to take risks. Breaking a leg or arm just isn’t an option when you’re under contract.”
Earlier in her life, Marie felt constrained by the extra 50 pounds she gained during her divorce from Brian Blosil. “Heart issues run deep in my family, and women in our family often didn’t make it past their 60s,” she reveals. It was a conversation with one of her sons about her health that became her turning point. “That was my motivation—to be here, strong and healthy, for my children.” Marie turned to Nutrisystem in 2007, shedding enough weight to go from a size 14 to a size 4, a transformation she’s managed to maintain ever since. “Mentally, I feel like I’m 17, and physically, I’m about 25,” she beams.

Finding Healing and Growth
Maintaining that youthful, optimistic spirit hasn’t come easy, but Marie has worked hard to overcome her challenges. “No one has had an easy life, including me. I think some of my weight struggles stem from the abuse I experienced as a child,” she reflects. Marie also navigated postpartum depression and the devastating loss of her son Michael in 2010. “It seems like we spend the second half of our lives fixing the damage done in the first half,” she muses.
Her resilience has been fueled by self-discovery. “Everyone’s journey is unique, and they need to figure it out for themselves,” Marie emphasizes. This lesson came from her mother, Olive, who encouraged independence. “She never tried to live through me or dictate my life. When I asked her questions, she’d say, ‘I have my answers, now go find yours,’” Marie recalls fondly.
This lifelong pursuit of answers has been deeply rewarding. “It’s so much fun to explore and grow as a person,” she says. “For me, the best way to heal the little girl inside is to become the best version of the adult I can be.”
