Hallmark Stars React to Major Changes in the Network
There’s been a lot of buzz around Hallmark lately, and it’s not just about the movies. The network’s most beloved stars, including Andrew Walker, Tyler Hynes, and Paul Campbell, have opened up about the recent departures that have shaken things up. Fans are curious to know what these actors really think about the changes, especially Candace Cameron Bure’s dramatic exit and her new role at GAC Family.
Andrew Walker, who has been a familiar face on Hallmark for years, offered his take on the situation in a candid interview with Vulture. “To be honest, it feels like this was a good excuse for something else,” said Andrew, now 44. “Candace might have felt she had more opportunities somewhere else. Now that she’s in an executive role at Great American Family, maybe she thought Hallmark didn’t have as much to offer her anymore. That’s how I see it, anyway.”
Tyler Hynes Weighs In
Tyler Hynes, another long-time Hallmark favorite, also shared his thoughts on the matter. At 37, Tyler knows what it’s like to be in the spotlight, and he’s not shy about his opinions. “I can only imagine how complex and layered Candace’s relationship with the network might have been,” Tyler said. “For us, though, it’s pretty straightforward. We know why we’re here, and we’re focused on what we’re doing. I’m not going to speak for everyone, but I know exactly why I’m still part of Hallmark.”

Fans Were Surprised by Candace’s Move
Back in April 2022, Hallmark fans were left scratching their heads when Candace Cameron Bure, 47, announced she was leaving the channel. Her departure was a big deal, and it left many wondering what was next for both the network and its stars. But Candace wasn’t just stepping away—she was stepping into a new role as an executive at GAC Family.
“I’m super excited about this next chapter,” Candace shared in a statement at the time. “I’m looking forward to developing heartwarming, family-friendly programming that aligns with my values. GAC Family shares my vision for creating content that resonates with families across the country. It’s the perfect fit for me.”

A Ripple Effect of Departures
Candace wasn’t the only one to make a move. Following her departure, other Hallmark stars like Danica McKellar, Jen Lilley, Jessica Lowndes, Cameron Mathison, and Trevor Donovan also decided to leave the network and join GAC Family. Fans are now wondering if this marks the beginning of a new era for both networks.
Is It Competition or Coexistence?
With so many familiar faces moving on, it’s natural to wonder if Hallmark and GAC Family are now in direct competition. Andrew Walker, who has remained loyal to Hallmark, doesn’t see it that way. “I don’t think anyone else can replicate what we do,” Andrew explained. “Sure, other places might have more money or resources, but our style is unique. It’s like comparing apples to oranges. What we offer is something special.”
Paul Campbell, also 44, agrees. “I don’t think the word ‘competition’ really applies here,” Paul said. “If you look at the numbers, Hallmark’s viewership is actually up this season. That tells me there’s plenty of room for everyone. It’s a big market, and there’s space for different networks to tell similar stories in their own way.”
Paul, who starred in Magic in Mistletoe, believes that Hallmark has carved out its own niche. “Hallmark is the only place that does exactly what Hallmark does,” he concluded. “And that’s something no one else can replicate.”
