But when asked if a replacement has been lined up for Katy, Ryan admitted, “Not yet, this is all just happening. We’re still processing everything, and we want to make sure whoever joins the team will bring the same level of excitement and passion that Katy has brought to the show.”

Meanwhile, Katy Perry, 39, has already begun thinking about who might fill her shoes. In a candid interview with E! News on April 15, she revealed her top pick for the next American Idol judge: Jelly Roll.
“I gotta say Jelly Roll was absolutely wild when he came on the show,” Katy said with a laugh. “I was completely convinced by anything he said. He could run for president, he could be my pastor, I might even go back to church for him. He could sell me anything!”
“So I absolutely love him,” she added. “And to have any of these guys plus Jelly on the show would be absolutely amazing. I love you, Jelly!”
Jelly Roll, 39, is no stranger to the American Idol stage, having served as a mentor to contestants this season. His raw honesty and genuine connection with the contestants have left a lasting impression, making him a fan favorite.
“I want a truth teller,” Katy continued. “I want someone who isn’t afraid to tell the truth in a graceful way. That’s what makes a great judge, and Jelly Roll embodies that perfectly.”

“I just have yet to make a record from a place of feeling really happy and whole and full of love,” she told Access Hollywood. “Sometimes artists are like, ‘Oh, that’s boring, you want to make music from kind of like a tougher place,’ but actually it’s very bright and joyful, like pure joy and fun and playful and celebratory and a party.”
