Let's be real for a second—Kelly Ripa's got a knack for spilling the beans on Live With Kelly and Mark, and she's never shy about sharing some TMI moments. On June 20, the beloved host opened up about something many of us can relate to: performance anxiety when it comes to using public restrooms. Yep, you read that right—public restrooms.
During a candid chat with her husband, Mark Consuelos, Kelly admitted, "I think I've had the yips, but usually in a public toilet." Now, for those of you scratching your heads, the "yips" typically refers to involuntary wrist spasms that athletes experience during high-pressure moments in sports, according to the Mayo Clinic. But for Kelly, this term takes on a whole new meaning.
The Struggles of Being Kelly Ripa in a Public Bathroom
Now, imagine this: You're Kelly Ripa, a household name, and you're in a public restroom. The pressure is on because, well, you're Kelly Ripa. Fans recognize you, and suddenly, you're not just trying to relieve yourself—you're doing it under the spotlight. Kelly, who's 53 years young, explained that this kind of situation can escalate her anxiety to new heights.

“I will hear, ‘That’s Kelly Ripa!’ And then, now I can’t go—even though I have to go desperately,” the Emmy-winning host confessed. It's like being stuck in a spiral of panic where you know you need to go, but the presence of others makes it nearly impossible.
What Happens When You're Stuck in a Stall?
Mark, who's also 53, chimed in with a question that probably crossed everyone's mind: Does Kelly eavesdrop on conversations while she's in the bathroom? It’s a question we’ve all wondered at some point, right?
“At that point, I’m just so panic-stricken ‘cause I have to pee and it’s not coming out and I’m in there longer, and now they’re in there also longer, and we’re all in there longer,” Kelly admitted. “And I feel like saying, ‘Guys, can you run the water? Or something?’” Can you blame her? Sometimes, a little running water can make all the difference.

It turns out Kelly isn’t the only one who struggles with this. After sharing her story, she joked, “I don’t feel so alone,” noting that several people in the audience could relate. Kelly, who shares three kids—Michael, Lola, and Joaquin—with Mark, knows she’s not alone in her bathroom battles.
When Things Get Awkward on the Road
Live is always full of surprises, and Mark isn’t shy about sharing his own awkward moments. Recently, he recounted an experience at airport security that left the audience in stitches. “I have a pair of jeans that I like that I travel with,” he explained during a May 28 episode. “They’re super comfy, soft, and not too tight. Every time I go through the metal detector, though, they set it off.”
“The guy is usually a big, burly guy, and he’s like, ‘I’ve got to pat you down, man,’” Mark continued. “He goes, ‘You want a private room?’” Mark explained that the pants have an extra zipper but no extra rivets. Still, the body scanner highlights a certain area whenever he wears them.

“You can say crotch,” Kelly reassured her husband, proving once again that nothing is off-limits for this dynamic duo. “I got stopped again,” Mark concluded. “This time, they just said, ‘Random!’ So, I went through. He had to do it again, and he puts on a glove. I’m like, ‘What are we doing? This is just second base, no? We’re just doing second base!’”
“Every time you go through, you get stopped, frisked, and your bag gets searched,” Kelly, who’s been married to Mark for 28 years, confirmed. “There’s something fishy about you!”
