Ever wonder what kind of quirky, unexpected decor you might find in the home of someone as iconic as Kelly Ripa? Well, the daytime television queen gave fans a sneak peek into her New York City sanctuary recently, and let’s just say it’s not your typical bathroom art. If you caught the episode of Live With Kelly and Mark on Wednesday, November 6, you probably remember her sharing a story about a gift from a close friend that’s become a standout piece in her home.
What Happened on the Show?
During the show, Kelly, 54, was chatting with her co-host Mark Consuelos when she mentioned receiving a truly one-of-a-kind gift from a girlfriend. “Today, on my social media, I will — maybe I’ll post a photograph of a very inflammatory phrase that my girlfriend gave to me,” she teased. “It’s embroidered, and I’ve placed it in a spot where it gets maximum attention.”
Why Did She Put It Above the Toilet?
Turns out, this particular piece of decor has a very specific home in Kelly’s bathroom. “I have it above the toilet because it says something so rotten, but so accurate that we all need it,” she explained with a laugh. “We all need to have this hanging over our toilets. It’s a gentle reminder to put the toilet seat down, but it uses language that is so foul and so vile, but like with beautiful embroidery and hearts around it, that it’s a real showstopper.”

Imagine walking into the bathroom and seeing something so unexpected yet perfectly suited for its location. It’s not just functional—it’s a conversation starter. Who wouldn’t want to talk about a piece of art that combines sass with craftsmanship?
The Big Reveal: What Did the Sign Say?
True to her word, Kelly posted a photo of the embroidered sign later that day on her Instagram Stories. The message? “Put the seat down you f—ker.” Talk about making an impression. This bold piece of decor perfectly captures Kelly’s sense of humor and her willingness to embrace the quirky side of life.
It’s not the first time Kelly has given fans a glimpse into her home. She’s shared photos of other unique items before, including pillows in her bedroom that feature embroidery saying, “I want to be where the people aren’t.” With a 7,796 square-foot mansion full of fabulous touches, there’s plenty of space for Kelly and Mark to express their creativity.
Life in the Ripa Household
Kelly and Mark’s home is more than just a place to live—it’s a reflection of their personalities and their journey together. Their kids, Michael, Lola, and Joaquin, have all moved out to pursue higher education and kickstart their careers, leaving Kelly and Mark plenty of room to enjoy their space. With five bedrooms and six bathrooms, there’s no shortage of opportunities to personalize each area.
But life isn’t just about decorating. Kelly recently made a big announcement about Live moving to a new location, which will be further away from her home. “But that’s not going to happen for some time, and I still don’t believe it’s going to happen,” she joked during an episode in October. “Anyway, I don’t believe it’s happening. But anyway, we’re moving down to this fancy schmancy state-of-the-art studio in SoHo.”
SoHo holds a special place in Kelly’s heart because it’s where she and Mark used to live. “SoHo where we used to live, which would have been convenient for us,” she quipped. “But as soon as we move to the Upper East Side, now we want to move to SoHo. OK, whatever!”

A Day in the Life of Kelly Ripa
After discussing her unique bathroom decor on the show, Kelly was spotted out for a stroll in New York City later that day. In photos obtained by Daily Mail, she wore a large hat to stay incognito while walking through the busy streets. Her outfit consisted of blue leggings, a blue sweatshirt, white sneakers, and a silver puffer vest. Taking walks around their neighborhood and Central Park is something Kelly and Mark enjoy doing together.
However, Kelly recently admitted that their daily routines have changed slightly due to football season. “So as soon as we leave and we get into Central Park, he tells me, ‘Listen, so I’m just going to walk with you for 25 minutes and then I’m going to turn around and go back because I have to get home to the game,’” she explained during a September episode of Live.
“I am immediately enraged,” Kelly admitted. “I am put into a march, like I am pacing myself. I could have theoretically been jogging, that’s how fast I was going. And then he says, ‘Can we slow down a bit?’”
