Have you ever wondered what the iconic Terminator series would be like without the fierce Linda Hamilton? Well, guess what—she's been thinking about it too! The legendary 63-year-old actress, famous for her role as Sarah Connor, recently opened up about her decision to step away from the franchise in a candid interview.
Why Linda Hamilton is Ready to Say Goodbye
In a heartfelt conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Linda revealed that she feels perfectly content moving on from the franchise. Her last appearance was in the 2019 blockbuster Terminator: Dark Fate, which raked in an impressive $261 million globally. Despite the film's success, Linda admitted that she wouldn't mind trading the grandeur of these high-stakes blockbusters for something smaller and more intimate.
"I would really appreciate maybe a smaller version, where so many millions are not at stake," she explained. In today's unpredictable movie landscape, where audiences can be as fickle as the weather, Linda feels it's time to explore new opportunities that don't come with such massive pressure.

The Changing Movie Landscape

Linda pointed out how many people, even those outside the film industry, often comment on the changing habits of moviegoers. "I can't tell you how many laymen just go, 'Well, people don’t go to the movies anymore,'" she remarked. For Linda, the idea of continuing with such high-risk ventures doesn't sit well, and she's quite content with the possibility of never returning. "So no, I am not hopeful, because I would really love to be done," she added.
Could There Be an Exception?
While Linda may be ready to step away from the franchise that cemented her as a cinematic legend, there's always room for the unexpected. She confessed, "But if there were something new that really spoke to me, I am a logical person and I will always consider viable changes." It seems that if the right opportunity comes along, one that resonates deeply with her, Linda might just reconsider.
The Bond with Arnold Schwarzenegger
One thing Linda might genuinely miss is the chance to work alongside her longtime friend, Arnold Schwarzenegger. Their on-screen partnership began in the groundbreaking 1984 film The Terminator and continued with the iconic Terminator 2: Judgment Day in 1991. When they reunited for Dark Fate, it was as if no time had passed at all.
"I loved working with Arnold. I actually was just pleased as punch when I saw him again," Linda shared with Entertainment Tonight. "It had been a number of years. And I just have this affection for him that is so deep and biting, that just got completely cemented on this film."
