It feels like just yesterday that Céline Dion lost her beloved mom, Thérèse Dion, at the age of 92. And while it’s been only a couple of weeks since her passing, Céline still feels her absence every single day. But here's the thing—through the power of music, the legendary singer has found a way to cope with her grief. Her latest album, Courage, has become her personal soundtrack for healing.
"Life throws us curveballs, and sometimes we don’t know how to handle them. But music? That’s my go-to. It’s like a balm for the soul," Céline, now 51, shared candidly in a recent interview with People. "The songs on my new album have given me strength and courage during this difficult time. But let me tell you, nothing compares to being there for my kids. They’re my rock, my everything. They help me heal in ways I never thought possible."

Thérèse Dion: The Backbone of Céline’s Life
Thérèse was more than just a mother to Céline—she was her last living parent. You see, Céline's father passed away back in 2003 at the age of 80, leaving Thérèse as the sole remaining pillar of support. "My mom was an incredible woman," Céline reminisced fondly. "Growing up, we didn’t have much money, but our home was filled with love and laughter. She and my dad raised 14 kids, which is no small feat. She was a musician, a singer, a cook, and the life of every party. She even wrote my very first song. She wasn’t just my mom; she was my hero. I miss her every single day."

Thérèse: A Lifelong Support System
Céline’s mom wasn’t just there for the good times; she was her rock through all the ups and downs of life. Whether it was celebrating Céline’s success or offering comfort during tough moments, Thérèse was always by her side. Now, with both of her parents gone, Céline is focusing on the future. She’s setting new goals for herself, both personally and professionally, and she’s determined to keep moving forward.
Looking Ahead: Céline’s New Goals
Céline has her sights set on several exciting ventures. First and foremost, she wants to be the best mom she can be for her children—René-Charles Angélil, 19, and twins Nelson and Eddy Angélil, both 9, whom she shares with her late husband René Angélil, who tragically passed away in 2016 at the age of 73. "Being a mom is my number one priority," she explained. "But I also want to keep dancing and exploring other passions. Acting, for instance, sounds like a lot of fun. I’d love to make a movie someday—it’s something I’ve always wanted to try."
