There’s nothing quite like asking your kids for their take on global events to remind you just how unpredictable life can be. Jennifer Love Hewitt, mom to two adorable children, Autumn (6) and Atticus (4), found herself in stitches after a lighthearted discussion about the coronavirus. The Ghost Whisperer star shared her kids’ hilarious responses via Instagram Stories back on March 20, offering fans a much-needed laugh during uncertain times.
A Candid Conversation About the Coronavirus
As any parent knows, curiosity often leads to some pretty interesting conversations. Jennifer decided to see if her kids were up to speed on the worldwide pandemic. With a playful tone, she quizzed her youngest, Atticus, first. “OK, Atticus, what do you think the coronavirus is?” she asked. Atticus, ever the candid child, didn’t mince words. “I don’t want to do this anymore!” he replied, leaving his mom laughing. Jennifer quickly reassured him, “OK, so you don’t have to.”
Autumn Steals the Show
Next up was Autumn, the six-year-old who clearly has a flair for storytelling. Jennifer asked, “Autumn, what do you think the coronavirus is?” Little did she know, she was about to get an earful. After Atticus passed on the question, Jennifer braced herself for her daughter’s response—and boy, did Autumn deliver. “I think somebody ate a bat and the bat was sick and it got the person sick and there was a tarantula who bit the person and the tarantula was even sicker than the bat…” Autumn explained, her imagination running wild. Jennifer couldn’t help but laugh as her daughter continued, “…and then that person had the coronavirus and he was around lots of people and then lots of people got the coronavirus. The end.”

Jennifer, clearly amused by her daughter’s imaginative take, simply responded with a lighthearted “OK.” It’s moments like these that remind us all how creativity and humor can brighten even the toughest days. And who wouldn’t be entertained by the idea of a sick tarantula spreading chaos?
Staying Positive Amidst Uncertainty
Since the coronavirus outbreak began impacting the U.S., Jennifer has been vocal about her experiences staying at home with her kids. Schools may be closed, but she’s found ways to keep things positive for her family. On March 12, she shared a heartfelt message alongside a photo that read, “Let’s just say, my anxieties have anxieties.” She encouraged her followers, saying, “Hang in there everyone. Faith, love, and light are powerful. Send all you’ve got to everyone around you and our world. We can do this.”
