Back in 1994, when Grace was just a little girl, she met Tay on the set of The River Wild, where their parents, the legendary Meryl Streep and acclaimed actor David Strathairn, were co-stars. Fast forward to 2017, and the two reconnected, reigniting a spark that turned serious in no time. According to an insider, “Grace and Tay became involved in late summer of 2017. They had reacquainted, and the relationship turned serious quickly.”

But as it often happens in life, things took an unexpected turn. Grace, now 33, and Tay, 39, quietly tied the knot before filing for divorce recently, leaving many of their friends completely blindsided. Some didn’t even know they had gotten married. However, Grace’s mom, Meryl Streep, was fully aware of the union and supported it wholeheartedly. “She loves Tay and his parents,” says the insider. “She’s sad about this, but she is completely, as she is with all of her kids, in Grace’s corner.”

And let’s not forget, all of Meryl’s daughters have followed in her footsteps to become actors themselves.

Mamie, for instance, experienced her own marital ups and downs, divorcing her first husband Benjamin Walker in 2013. Through it all, Meryl was there to support her, helping her navigate the tough times. Now remarried, Mamie made Meryl a first-time grandmother last year. Despite her busy schedule, Meryl remains a devoted grandmother and mother, giving her children the space they need while always being there as a safe haven. “She trusts them to make their own choices and be smart,” says the insider. “But for Meryl, family has always come first.”

These days, with the world facing unprecedented challenges due to the coronavirus pandemic, staying connected with loved ones is more important than ever. Meryl and her family are no exception. “They’re isolating until the pandemic is over,” explains the insider. “But there’s a lot of FaceTiming, and Meryl is even doing Zoom. They’re connected.”
