How Candace Cameron Bure Made Her Quarantine Birthday Special
When Candace Cameron Bure's birthday rolled around on April 6, she wasn’t exactly heartbroken about celebrating at home in quarantine during the coronavirus pandemic. In fact, the star of Fuller House told Closer Weekly exclusively that this particular celebration “was one of the best birthdays [she’s] ever had.”
“Everyone kept saying, ‘Oh, it’s so sad you’re in quarantine,’” Candace recalls in the new interview, her voice filled with laughter. But as it turns out, celebrating with her husband Valeri Bure and their kids—Natasha, 21, Lev, 20, and Maksim, 18—turned out to be even better than she ever imagined. There was something magical about being surrounded by the people she loves most without the pressure of hosting a big party.

No Pressure, All Joy
“I’m surrounded by the people I love most, and there’s absolutely no pressure,” Candace gushes. The actress, who recently partnered with The Salvation Army to match donations up to $10,000 in support of the deadly outbreak, adds that the lack of stress allowed her to fully enjoy the day. “I didn’t have to host anyone, worry about family dynamics, or deal with personalities that might not mesh well.”
This freedom gave her the space to indulge in all her favorite things, like enjoying her favorite foods and spending quality time with her husband and kids. “It was just an amazing day,” she says with a smile.
Feeling Younger Than Ever
On top of having a memorable 44th birthday, Candace shares that she feels better than ever. “I feel really young, and I’m so grateful for that,” she tells Closer. She attributes her youthful energy to her love for exercise and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. “Every year I get older, I’m more grateful for what my body can do, especially when it comes to staying active and fit.”
And speaking of fitness, Candace received a gift that aligned perfectly with her active lifestyle—a new bike. “It was the best birthday present ever! I’ll definitely be riding my new bike a lot more,” she says enthusiastically.

The Secret to a Long-Lasting Marriage
It’s no surprise that Candace made the most of her indoor birthday party, given how much she adores her family. In a previous interview with Closer, the devoted wife—who tied the knot with Valeri, 45, back in 1996—revealed the secret to her enduring marriage. “Spending time together is the key,” she explained. “You’ve got to see each other regularly, even if life gets busy.”
“Now that the kids are older, things are different,” she adds. “Our schedules can be hectic since we both travel a lot, but we’re figuring it out. As empty-nesters, we’re rediscovering our relationship, and it’s really exciting.”
Giving Back During Tough Times
We hope Candace continues to enjoy her time at home with Val and their kids. Meanwhile, she’s actively giving back during the pandemic through her partnership with The Salvation Army, where she’s matching donations up to $10,000 to support those in need.
