Marie Osmond: Prioritizing Family Amidst a Thriving Career
Let’s talk about Marie Osmond, the mom of eight who's managed to balance her Hollywood career with her family life in a way that’s nothing short of inspiring. Now, you might think that being a legendary singer and TV personality could take someone away from their family, but Marie did things differently. She didn’t just leave her kids at home while she went out and conquered the world. Nope, she brought them along for the ride. And you know what? It worked beautifully.
Reflecting on her life, the 60-year-old icon shared a heartfelt Instagram post on August 30, where she opened up about her parenting choices. “When my kids were little, I couldn’t just leave them in a house… because home is where we ALL were, together,” she wrote. This wasn’t just a decision—it was a lifestyle. Marie grew up understanding the importance of family togetherness, so she made sure her own kids experienced the same. “My children spent the summers on a bus with me, going from show to show… sometimes up to 260 days a year,” she revealed.

Family First: Building a Home on the Road
Now, you might be wondering if she worried about her kids missing out on normal childhood experiences. Of course, she did. But Marie knew that keeping her family together was the most important thing. Her brood includes Stephen, 37, Jessica, 32, Rachael, 31, Brandon, 23, Brianna, 22, Matthew, 21, Abigail, 17, and the late Michael. And guess what? It paid off. “I am so happy to hear, now that they’re grown, those years were some of their happiest memories,” she shared with pride.

Lessons from Her Mother: The Foundation of Home
In her Instagram post, Marie gave a nod to her late mother, Olive Osmond, who instilled in her the importance of creating a home wherever life took them. “Of all the memories I have of being a child, what I remember and am the most grateful for, is the influence and example of having a loving mother,” she wrote. Olive, who passed away in 2004, was a rock for her family. Even as Marie and her brother Donny Osmond became teen idols in the early '70s, Olive never let her career take her away from her children. “No matter where it was, Huntsville, a bus, or even a hotel on the other side of the world, it felt like home,” Marie fondly recalled. “That meant everything to me as a child because I knew WE, her children, were everything to her and my dad [George Osmond].”

Marie's Legacy: Balancing Work and Family
Fast forward to today, and Marie is still juggling her multiple roles with grace and determination. She’s a mom, grandma, and a star of the hit show "The Talk," all while maintaining a career that spans nearly five decades. And don’t expect her to slow down anytime soon. “I feel so blessed that I’ve done so many different things,” she told Closer Weekly in 2019. “I believe you always have something that you want to do. I probably will work until I’m dead just because it’s always been a safe place for me.”
Marie admitted that when life handed her lemons—like the tragic loss of her son Michael in 2010—work became her lemonade. “I had to support my family and it was just a safe place. I loved it. That’s something that I could do and get on stage and kind of leave all the problems behind for an hour,” she explained.
