On a crisp Tuesday in early March, Craig took to Instagram to unveil a special collection he designed himself. Featuring a vibrant blue and orange quarter-zip pullover and matching socks, this unique set is more than just fashion—it’s a tribute. Each piece carries a small blue ribbon design, symbolizing the fight against colorectal cancer. His beloved sibling, Lawrence, who tragically passed away from the disease in 2020 at the young age of 43.
Why This Cause Matters to Craig
“Big announcement!” Craig wrote passionately in his Instagram caption. “Last year, I felt inspired to design a tie and sock set in honor of my brother Lawrence. This year, I decided to go for something a little sportier—a quarter-zip and sock set. Together, we can make a difference by raising awareness about the importance of preventive screenings.” Craig’s words resonate deeply, reminding us that early detection can save lives. A Bigger Mission for Colorectal Cancer Awareness
Craig didn’t stop there. In honor of National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, NBCUniversal is stepping up to make a donation to the Colorectal Cancer Alliance. This alliance is dedicated to ending colorectal cancer in our lifetime, a mission Craig wholeheartedly supports. He followed up with a video on March 5, confirming that the socks and pullover were now available for purchase. “March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, and in honor of that—and in honor of my brother—we’ve designed items that you can buy in the shop to help support the Colorectal Cancer Alliance’s mission,” Craig said, holding up the socks with pride.
Craig added a playful note about the collection, emphasizing that men don’t often get to express themselves through fashion. “A little swag on your feet, alright?” he joked, holding up the socks. He also praised the pullover, crafted by Land’s End, calling it “soft” and stylish. Craig’s passion for the cause is evident in every detail of the collection.
A Personal Journey With Colorectal Cancer
Craig first revealed his brother Lawrence’s battle with stage 4 colorectal cancer back in February 2017. “You never want to hear of anyone getting a cancer diagnosis… it nearly knocked me off my feet,” he admitted, sharing the emotional toll of the diagnosis. Despite undergoing chemotherapy at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, Lawrence’s battle was ultimately unsuccessful. He passed away in December 2020 at the age of 43, leaving behind a wife and two young children.
After Lawrence’s passing, Craig paid tribute to his brother on Instagram, writing, “Colon cancer robbed him and us of so much. He was diagnosed at 39. He died Wednesday at 43. He spent a fair amount of time over the past few years raising awareness about the disease. We’ll be keeping up that fight. We love you, bro.” Craig’s words reflect not only his grief but also his determination to continue his brother’s legacy.
